About OUR PROGRAM
Art and Play Daycare is operated by Neighborhood Art Studios which has been in business for last 18 yrs.
We are a community based licensed childcare inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Also, being in an Art Studio we focus a lot on visual art. Art is a medium through which a child expresses his/her thoughts, feelings and fantasies. A child's artwork depicts his/her perception of the world around him/her. Children who are encouraged to express through art, their thoughts, feelings and imaginations are broadened and enriched. Art promotes creativity and ability to think.
PHILOSOPHY
At ART AND Play daycare , we believe that CHILDREN are unique individuals with special gift, talents and abilities. We strive to provide an environment that fosters positive emotional, social, cognitive and physical development, through providing a variety of activities that incorporate all learning styles and personalities.
SERVICES
INFANT AND TODDLER CARE ( 10months- 3yrs.)
Our goal is to provide a safe and loving environment for your little ones where they can learn and grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially at their own pace. We believe children learn through play and benefit from a structured yet flexible schedule. At Toddler Time, we offer activities which stimulate sensory, language and motor development social interaction, creativity and strong self-esteem. Children will also be taught to respect each other, adults and property.
3 - 5 yrs. OLD
As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to
take on the world. Our program fosters that
confidence by providing activities to help children become problem
solvers and lifelong learners.
Through independent exploration,
structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on
early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts. A healthy
dose of running, jumping, and dancing keeps them active, too.
A typical day includes two circle times, including activities in the creative arts, dramatic play,
writing, library, blocks, manipulatives, math, science and sensory
learning centers. Outdoor activity time, quite time and free play. Visual Art three times a week.
Being an art
based program, there will be a lot of focus on Visual Art which helps build children's
self-esteem by giving them opportunities to express what they are thinking and
feeling. Through the art activities, children will develop abilities and skills
that have application in many other areas of the curriculum. Most importantly,
however, children will also develop an appreciation for the art of other people
and cultures, and the confidence to express their own thoughts and feelings
through art. Far from creating individual prodigies, this integration of making
and enjoying art in the early childhood classroom will result in the
"all-sided development" of the children.
